Leaving one’s homeland to study in a specialist field like design or art is by no means an easy challenge. Toyo Institute of Art & Design has prepared the best environment and support in order to provide backing to all international students who are encountering this challenge. Toyo Institute of Art & Design, which in 2016 will celebrate the 70th anniversary of its establishment, has to date sent out great numbers of creators into society, and these creators are flourishing both in Japan and in their homelands. At present, international students from around 13 countries are enrolled here, including many government-sponsored international students mainly from Asian and European countries. Matriculation requirements

Requirements for matriculation are that the requirements outlined below under A) as well as satisfying one of the requirements ① through ③ under B).

Conditions”A”

Those who have completed the 12th grade of school in a foreign country (in the case of less than 12 years, those who have completed a preparatory education curriculum) Those over 18 years old who have passed an academic ability certification test equivalent to the completion of a 12-year course in a foreign country (in the case of less than 12 years, those who have completed a preparatory education curriculum) Those who have completed a school curriculum corresponding to a high school curriculum that meets certain requirements such as completion of a designated 11-year or longer course in a foreign country. Those who hold International Baccalaureate, Abitur, Baccalaureate, and GCEA level qualifications for admission to a foreign university. Those who have completed a 12-year curriculum at an educational facility accredited by an international evaluation body (WASC, CIS, ACSI). Those over 18 years old approved by our school’ s individual admission qualification examination.

Conditions”B”

Those who have passed the N2 level or higher of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. Those who scored 200 or more in the Japanese language category of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (total for listening, listening comprehension, and reading comprehension)

Matriculation requirements	In addition to the above admission qualifications, those who have graduated from a vocational school or junior college in the same fields offered at our institute (art/design), or who have completed more than two years at the university, can transfer to the third year of our four-year program. Persons who have graduated from a technical school or junior college in the same field (art/design) as Toyo Institute of Art & Design. Or: persons who have completed at least two years at a university in the same field (art/design) as Toyo Institute of Art & Design. Only persons who have passed at “N1” or “N2, or who have achieved a score of 200 points or higher (total across listening comprehension and reading comprehension) in the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students.

Toyo Institute of Art & Design has established its own international student scholarship program so that international students can study with peace of mind.。

• Toyo Institute of Art & Design Special Program for Reduction of School Fees for Privately Financed International Students (proprietary program offered by Toyo Institute of Art & Design)
  Privately financed international students whose character and studies (results), etc. in the first year are deemed as being exemplary for other students We will make our selection at school, and put in our recommendation.
  Tuition fee exemption of 200,000 yen per year starting from the second year (100,000 yen for the first semester, 100,000 yen for the second semester).

• Toyo Institute of Art & Design Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students (proprietary scholarship offered by Toyo Institute of Art & Design)
  Privately financed international students with an attendance rate of at least 90%, who are deemed to have favorable attitudes toward study and good grades.
  Grant of 10,000 yen per month from second half of first year
